Our synthetic winch line will often become cut, frayed or worn in spots as mine did after a few years.

Sometimes you may need to do this on the trail. All you need is a knife and some tape.

A knot ? you say ... knots reduce the strength of a line by 50%. This method makes it 100%.

I found this video and followed it exactly. It was easy. Took me 15 minutes. I have to still X stitch or whip the cross over so I'll do that tomorrow. You will use up almost 3 feet of line doing though. Better than buying a new one. Even when you line is "done" in your mind and time for a new one ... use the old one for lines to "anchor" off to trees etc. If it is too long still ... cut it into 2 or 3 small ones. Using the same method you can leave a loop at the end and if you want, add an eyelet.

Have fun.

Watch the video ( the measurements are slightly too long for 3/8" - see below the video at the end.)
