K so transmission and transfer case are in.
Bit of a pain getting that 200lb tranny in by myself but with a whole lot of cursing and a little bit of cutting and welding I got er done.
Transfer case wasn't too bad, straps for front shaft were toast so I had to cut them off. Has 2 peice rear shaft in it now.
Trying to get used to the fact that I can't downshift to 1st gear while moving. This friday going to Cannifton Garage for new ubolts so I can swap rear ends. Its alll coming together now..... Very Happy

You should be able to downshift into first by " double declutching and matching the rpm for what 1st needs .... double declutch means shifting into neutral with the clutch pedal OUT and revving the engine to match what 1st gear would be at ... then clutching and engaging 1st . I did this for years with certain cars ( English with no synchro on 1st ). Takes practice ... like shifting with no clutch.

it depends on the gear ratio.... If it is as low as mine I wouldn't.... unless you want to eat the steering wheel Shocked

I thought about trying that after I put it in but because 1st is so low it only does maybe 5kph so once I get moving I don't really need it. Only time I actually use it is if I'm taking off on a hill.

On a different note, bought an engine last night and going to pick it up saturday morning. Found a completely rebuilt 351W down in the county.
Lucky for me I've already got the 6 sold so new one will only cost $100.

new bearings and pistons were re-ringed, heads were ported to match manifolds. More then likely going to install a Crane Blazer cam and lifter kit I found on kijiji. All the gaskets are new but it came with another master gasket kit. Friend of mine has a 4 barrel carb and intake that I'm thinking about using. Right now just looking for a set of headers for it before I put it in. Fresh 351 with headers, cam and 4 barrel should be close to 300hp which is what I'm aiming for...

Body swap is done. Decided to go a different route.
Truck is now an '83 body on a '79 frame. 351M, C6, NP205, 9inch, High Pinion D44. Will be putting the finishing touches on it hopefully tonight (new master cylinder and attach rear bumper)
Been a while since I updated this thread and I just spent 2 days swapping parts but none of that matters without pics so I took a bunch along the way.

k so for some reason i can't post pics because mine are all bmp pics from my phone so just trying to find another way.
On a side note, just did rear ubolts and plates, picked up 2 electric fans to hook up tomorrow night and rebuilt the carb to make it go better.
On the downside, since its an auto the wife has claimed it as HERS and now takes it to work every chance she gets leaving me the Vibe Sad

Will luv to see this truck this year and see the transformation. Sounds like it is coming along nicely. A long way from the leaf run last year. If wifey wants to drive it let her, at least she isn't chewing u out for working on it and spending cash on it. Great build!!
