Well the Polaris 500 Sportsman is having coolent issues.

Did you know..... the temperature sensor that turns the fan ON
is at the very top of the Rad... DUMB...

ours was low on antifreze, therefor the sensor wasnt in the coolent...
so fan wont come on.. only way we knew was the Idiot light on the pod

Micki and I stripped it down, filled the rad up and noticed some coolent
was leaking out of the bottom of the water pump..

It is kinda like the old chevy waterpumps.. there is a little blow off or vent
hole or something.. still have to research this but here is some pics..

WEEP HOLE LEAKING...

The weep hole should be on the right side of motor near bottom. There have been many instances of this. I have been through a few. It is due to the mechanical seal leaking inside. Some have changed theirselves but if you bend the shaft then the motor has to come apart. Do a search for weep and should find lots of discussion on it.

yeah thats a common problem with the polaris's my 700 had the same thing. Another big thing, there is a tiny air vent on the coolant reservoir cap that vents the air out. It gets clogged and pressurizes the system. best fix is drill a little hole and screw a grease zerk in and attach a vent line up high.
